Fantaisie lithique

5 photographs - Abstract / Texture - Contemplative

Close studies of stone and lichen — cracked mineral surfaces read as topography, color bleeding across rock like a private cartography. A quiet insistence that the ground beneath us is stranger than it looks.

Made over eighteen months of returning to the same stretch of quarry outside Paris, in every season and every light. Most of what's shown here was shot within arm's reach — the camera close enough that scale stops being legible, and a boulder can read as a mountain range, a patch of moss as a forest seen from above.
